As part of the Kellogg’s Better Days Promise to advance sustainable and equitable access to food, the company aims to reduce food waste by 50% across global Kellogg-owned manufacturing facilities by the end of 2030.
Since 2016 until the end of 2021, organic waste has been reduced by 3.3% and food waste by 22.8% in Kellogg factories. In Europe, the Pringles plant in Kutno, Poland, drives a continuous improvement programme and as such has a zero-loss mindset.
The Kutno Pringles plant is continuously seeking new opportunities to further reduce organic and food waste in the plant. A recent example would be the development of a dough quality detection system that provides a continuous analysis of the dough to detect any breaks, preventing large amounts of dough wastage.
