Intensive land use, depopulation of rural areas and job insecurity caused by rising production costs, have left the countryside vulnerable.
To ensure the viability of rural communities is essential to guarantee the sustainability of natural resources and prevent the social, economic, and environmental consequences of letting rural life decay.
With this objective, a consortium of industry, academics, and civil society launched the Next Generation Farms initiative in Spain in 2021.
It consists of a collaborative digital platform that seeks to empower rural actors with strategic competencies to guarantee the future of the sector.
The initiative is led by Alma Natura, CEMAS, Danone, B Corp, and Polytechnical University of Valencia. It promotes the professional exchange of knowledge with the aim of moving towards a competitive, sustainable, and fair model.
