PepsiCo is sequestering carbon and reducing emissions to build resilience to climate change impacts and support the company’s GHG reduction targets, including the use of low-carbon, nutrient-rich fertiliser to reduce emissions.
Soil can act as a carbon sponge but it needs to be in good health to function. PepsiCo is investing in technology to gently bring organic matter back into the earth.
Across Europe, the company is providing farmers with their own carbon calculator – the Cool Farm Tool – to reduce the carbon footprint. Through collaboration with the University of Aberdeen, PepsiCo created a tool that measures the production of greenhouse gases and enables farmers to offset their production and model different ways of reducing their carbon footprint.
