Starch Europe has published the results of their 2022 sector-wide Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).
The study shows that the starch industry has lowered its CO2 emissions by 7% and, when taking into account production increases, 19% per tonne of dry substance since 2009.
The agricultural supply chain amounts to 77.6% of starch products’ environmental footprint. That’s why, Starch Europe members are working alongside farmers to reduce emissions from cultivation of agriculture raw materials and support the adoption of more sustainable agriculture practices.
