The Portuguese food federation, FIPA, is an active member of the country’s multi-stakeholder platform against food waste, Unidos Contra Desperdício.
It is a civic and sustainability movement that aims to make the use of surpluses habitual, alert to losses and waste, encourage and facilitate the donation of leftovers, promote responsible consumption and thus build a true circular economy.
In this context, FIPA is also part of the National Commission to Combat Food Waste in Portugal, having been collaborating on several projects in this field in order to analyse, study and collect data that allow an even more effective action in this matter.
At European level, the federation joined FoodDrinkEurope’s Every Crumb Counts initiative, which shares best practices aimed at the food and beverage industry.
